Our staff are available to support survivors of sexual assault whoever they are. We offer a 24 hour crisis line, accompaniment as requested, and drop in at the Centre Monday through Friday from 1p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Counselling Services:

  • We offer supportive, non-judgemental, confidential counselling to women age 16 and older who have experienced sexual assault, incest or childhood sexual abuse, recently or in the past. We also offer group counselling.

Emergency Walk-Ins:

  • We provide immediate crisis intervention, support and community referrals.

24-hour Confidential Crisis Line:

  • Our crisis line is available 24 hours a day. Our crisis line provides support and information to survivors of sexual violence and their friends and families. The crisis line is staffed outside of regular office hours by trained volunteers. Crisis line services are available throughout the 807 area code.

Hospital Support:

  • KSAC staff and volunteers provide accompaniment and support at the L.O.W. Hospital to women age 16 and older who have experience a recent sexual assault.

Accompaniment and Advocacy:

  • KSAC staff and volunteers provide accompaniment, support and advocacy for survivors and their family and friends when reporting to police, providing police statements, and attending or testifying in court. We also provide support to women who are having difficulties accessing services such as Ontario Works, ODSP, housing and other programs.

Resources:

  • Our Centre library is full of books, videos and other publications. Women are welcome to use our materials at the office. We have a computer available for women to use during our drop in hours.

Public Education:

  • Through our public education program the Centre provides prevention strategies and raises awareness about the root causes of sexual violence. Presentations include such topics as healthy relationships, boundaries, adult sexual assault, drug facilitated sexual assault, sexual exploitation, sexual harassment in the workplace, human trafficking among others. Please call the Centre to discuss your individual needs.

The Healing Room:

  • This is a special room where women can have a quiet and safe place to retreat to. Women may use this room to make local calls, read books, and get some quiet time to think or watch a movie. Traditional items and medicines are available for use. The Healing room is accessible during drop in hours Monday-Friday from 1:00-4:30 PM

Groups:

  • Sassy and Classy is a group for female identified individuals ages 11-17. This group aims to empower youth through education and connection. The group utilizes forms of creative expression to teach youth about issues affecting young women including consent, online safety, self-esteem, drug use and body image. This group takes place at the centre every Wednesday from 3:30 until 5:00 pm during the school year.  Please call the office at (807) 468-7958 to sign up.

  • Our Women Healing Together Group takes place every Monday at Clarissa Manor. This group aims to aid those who are currently in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. This group is a place for women to come together and heal from past trauma that may be affecting their recovery process. Utilizing a variety of methods this group educates women on various topics including how to utilize artistic expression, healthy coping strategies and how to recognize the signs of abuse.
